middle...near Allentown Pa. 1973 Baldwin DS 1000, I think?

C&S / ATSF 167 was switching Colorado & Southern's Rice Yard having just crossed Cherry Creek Bridge at Denver, CO.  Nice catch-!

DRGW 142 is indeed an SW1000 which typically worked the Denver, CO, area.  Joint yard operation North Yard.

Likely, flexability.

GPs could do anything a switcher could and also be added as a unit for through freight. Saved on having too many spare parts for too many varied locomotives.

The Savannah shot is coming out of Savannah Yard at a place called Lorick's lead.

I believe the Ironton Baldwin is working along Canal ST in Easton, Pa.on the former Lehigh Valley mainline.Great picture.
