Here a few more from the locations that I showed yesterday, including some views of larger areas which give some perspective and have some interesting details. 1-3: BN commuter action South of Union Station and a view of the Zephyr Pit and Amtrak's yard. 5- Fuzzy shot of an Amtrak switcher. 5- Same Amtrak as above gets closer. Date: 01/14/20 08:25 Re: Chicago trip July 1983 pt. 3- more Union & North Western Stat Author: RRTom July 6, 1983
7 - Amtrak and BN yards as seen from the Sears Tower observation deck 8 - North Western Station: RTA F40s were parked on these tracks at the north end of the station. 9 - Some trains on the Chicago and North Western lines used RTA F40s and fluted bi-levels which were not C&NW originals. Date: 01/14/20 08:30 Re: Chicago trip July 1983 pt. 3- more Union & North Western Stat Author: RRTom 10 - July 6, 1983: FTA F40 with C&NW bi-levels ready to depart North Western station.
11 & 12 - July 7, 1983: Randolph St. Station - These South Shore cars were relatively new in 1983. Note the old cars still in use plus the wood construction of the platform. Thanks for putting up with the fuzzy images. They look better when viewed on a phone! My next post will be my trip to Santa Fe's Corwith Yard featuring lots of big GE's and the hump.
