Three box cars from 2 of the Northwest's shortlines and very BN-looking F unit ... but in fact this train is running far from the Northwest's abundant forests.
This Sept. 18, 1981 pic by Alan Miller was actually taken on the eastern plains of Colorado near Vona ... and with another twist. It's running on former Rock Island trackage and this is Cadillac & Lake City train ... yup the same Michigan shortline gone west! Confused?
