Nostalgia & History > Ma & Pa Cab Ride 1977Date: 01/20/20 11:17 Ma & Pa Cab Ride 1977 Author: RRTom My friend's dad worked for Emons Industries, owner of the Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad. His office was in the old Ma & Pa station in York, and he arranged for a cab ride for us on August 24, 1977 between York and Hanover.
Bright and early in the morning, GP-7 #86 pulled up to the York station and we got on. It was a light engine ride to Hanover, then the crew did some switching there. The crew took a lunch break somewhere, leaving us in the cab alone. Then, with one boxcar in tow, we headed back to York. Both shots taken in Hanover, PA, The engine by me and the boys by one of the train crew. We were both 9 years old. Date: 01/20/20 12:07 Re: Ma & Pa Cab Ride 1977 Author: boejoe Nice. The rain diverter above the cab window suggests to me the unit was former Reading Company.
