Zito Yellow was bright!

Even though it's starting to fade and weather, this paint is unmistakably eye-catching!

CNW GP40 5517 started out as NYC 3028 (later PC and CR same number) and NW GP30 2903 is former NKP 903. This Proviso to Calumet Yard transfer run is dead on the main track adjacent to NS's Landers Yard in Chicago on 3-19-88

I thought that razor wire looked familiar.  There to keep the railfans out.

Once I find my time book I'll verify, but I believe I was working a Calumet Yard afternoon lead job
that day.  After we finished up, we drove to Landers, got that train and took it Calumet.  It may
take me more time to find my book than it took us to get to Calumet.  Was a nice move,
especially since we were on OT.  This was a Saturday, so had no Metra trains to worry about.
Many, many thanks for this great memory.

Extremely bright when new, but that didn't last long at all.  Nice shot!

Yes, that was the routing. The connection between the two railroads has been there since the 1930's and most likely way before that....
