Six More at Summit
Author: TheNavigator

Posting a few more scans of slides taken over the years at the Summit of Cajon Pass.

Thanks for looking back again,
GK

1.  One of the deeper snow accumulations that I've experienced on Cajon occurred around Christmas 1995.  On the day of Christmas Eve that year, 2892 is in charge of a westbound heading down the South Track.

2.  5083, and an FP45 that I didn't get the number of, are on straight track after exiting the curve of the cut below the old Hwy 138 overlook at the west end.

3.  FP45s 105, 100, 101, and 102 pass the MP56 sign at the left.

4.  In April 1979, a typical Santa Fe “geep-pack” led by GP30 3239 is westbound passing the siding.

5.  Also in April 1979, 3397 is one of the rear-end helpers westbound on the South Track passing 5629 leading an eastbound on the North Track.

6.  Dash8-40CW 825 on an eastbound splits the old signals next to the grade crossing.

Fantastic images. My first visit to the area was 1995 and was so happy to see those warbonnets in their prime. Thanks for sharing!
