Nostalgia & History > The Photographers -Tribute to Blythe Gabriel, "Southern Gent"Date: 01/26/20 00:49 The Photographers -Tribute to Blythe Gabriel, "Southern Gent" Author: SvenMolson Blythe Gabriel hailed from the deep South and his photographs proved it. The Southern Railway, Seaboard Coast Line and the Georgia Group were his speciaities but he would happily shoot anything that rolled by. During a photoshoot at North Platte, the famed Valmont jokingly asked "how's Roman?" Blythe quickly answered back "he's quite well." (Roman was the quarterback of the LA Rams at the time of Merline Olsen & Deacon Jones. Roman & Blythe were first cousins.) If anyone here remembers Roman Gabriel, you are dating yourself. Last I talked with Blythe, he was living in the mountains of North Carolina....A nice place to finally call home.. Now, to his work.

My mom was a friend and on occasion babysat Roman and some other ACL kids. Roman starred on the local New Hanover High football team.
