Pullman Glen Blair
Author: gcm

Sept 79

On an excursion through Brunswick,Md passed this heavyweight car.
The Glen Blair was built in 1928 as a 6 compartment 3 drawing room car.
Doing some searching learned the car in 1967 was sold to Ruben Darby-Darby Wood Products
and stored here in Brunswick.
On another railway forum it was mentioned that this car - as of 2006 - was in New Orleans.
Anyone know where it is today ?

How sad she looks here. Still, you did a great job of photographing her.

This one appears to have been assigned to the NYC, according to the paint job, at least.

Not necessarily N.Y. Central.  After the war Pullman adopted this scheme for it'ts pool cars.  There were many cars in this scheme that never even ran on the NYC.

On the NYC, 6-3s were assigned to the "20th Century Limited" and the "Mohawk" at least during 1930 from the Official Guide for January of that year. On the Seaboard they were assigned to the "Orange Blossom Special."  They seem to have been assigned almost solely to all-Pullman trains such as the Panama Limited, Florida Special, Havana Limited and Broadway Limited.

Nice excursion catch.  Being attentive to trackside surroundings paid off.
Thanks for  the interesting photo posting.

When I last saw Glen Blair in Brunswick, many decades ago, it was in an advanced stage of decomposition.

This car sat around Omaha for many years and then disappeared--never knew where it went.
