Warbonnet Wednesday: Thunder at Wellington
Author: santafe199

Here’s a collaboration of 3 Kansas railfan/railroaders. One retired, one getting close & one in the prime of his career. And we all have the Santa Fe in common! The original slide was shot by Mr Keel Middleton, who grew up in Wellington and whose father was a career Santa Fe man. His trader(?) slide was acquired by our good man Mr Daniel Archer who has quite a bit of Santa Fe blood in his ancestry. And it was scanned, photo-edited & posted by yours truly. And Keel bagged himself a killer telephoto shot, if I do say so myself…

1. AT&SF 529 leads 3 more Blue & Yellow siblings over the “C St” crossing in Wellington, KS on May 23, 1996. This is westbound train P-CHRI 1-23, with a fresh crew. Photo taken from a switch engine on “3-track”.
Photo by Keel Middleton, from the Daniel Archer collection.

Thanks for looking back!
