Nostalgia & History > SP Train 1-375 rolls over the Santa Fe at Calwa Ca.1960Date: 02/26/20 15:45 SP Train 1-375 rolls over the Santa Fe at Calwa Ca.1960 Author: photobob On a hot Summer morning in 1960 I found Train 1-375 lead by 5783. This location is a few miles south of Fresno. After a midnight Greyhound ride from San Francisco a walk down to Calwa in the pre dawn light was in order. Of course the walk back was in the heat of the day but what the heck when your sixteen anything for a train photo took priority. The Santa Fe had a yard to the left of this view.

It's one of those spots with a perpetual Form A in effect these days.

As photobob wrote when he posted this photo on 5/9/18, orders have been hung out for a Bakersfield-bound Santa Fe freight. |
