A Foggy Morning at Potomac Yard, Southern Ry
Author: MartyBernard

Potomac Yard was in the Northern Virginia straddlng southeastern Arlington County and northeastern Alexandria. It has undergone significant redevelopment.

There was a bridge across the yard from which I took these photos on the foggy morning of April 29, 1970.

1. SOU SW1500 2300

2 and 3. SOU SD35 3069

4. SOU SD24 6311

Enjoy!

Thanks for posting.  Lots of boxcars with roof walks, and plenty of fallen flags.

Marty - great shots, from the old Route 1 bridge over the southern portion of the yard.  Wish I had spent more time there when the yard was active.

I did a double take on photo 3 - that boxcar in the lower right has one of the cleanest roofs I've ever seen. Lots to look at!
