Used to see these models commonly spliced between a pair of DDA40X's as in pic 2.

I hired out in train service in 1976 on the 5th district (Cheyenne - Rawlins) and then in 1977 was accepted into engine service on the 4th District (Cheyenne - North Platte). Got to see and operate many of these units.
