Nostalgia & History > Sugar Land DepotDate: 03/20/20 19:16 Sugar Land Depot Author: Hou74-76 Gary posted a shot of the Sunset Limited in Sugar Land, mid 80s. I think the train hides the old depot site.
https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,4980383 Way back in 1968 I went down to the depot in Sugar Land often to catch glimpses of SP & Santa Fe passenger trains. The old depot was sold or leased to an insurance agency by 1968. The depot name was taken off, leaving an unfaded patch where it had been. In 1985 the depot was dismantled and is now incorporated into the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce building in Sugar Land, TX. First pic is of the depot circa 1929. Second and third pics are mine from June,1968. At least I was able to capture it in its faded color. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 03/21/20 16:38 by Hou74-76. I always wondered when the station closed. Gary Date: 03/21/20 09:11 Re: Sugarland Depot Author: slangist does anyone know if it was built by ATSF or SP?
Jamie Yeager Santa Fe, NM Date: 03/21/20 15:03 Re: Sugarland Depot Author: KskidinTx It was SP trackage so had to have been built by the SP or one of its predecessors. ATSF just had (has) trackage rights over it.
