Wow...  that first image is certainly a consist that I would never have dreamed-up myself.  Pretty cool.

I think the DD35s and U50s were starting to get a bit worn out by this time and were no longer premier power.
It seems that shortly after the period of these photos, they went back to southern California to end their careers
in West Colton - LA hauler assignments.
