The Trunk was heavily involved in Detroit-area automotive traffic, and their colorful diesels were often the lone bright spot in the gritty industrial environment they traveled through. JG
1) A lone GP9 is soldiering on in local service southbound on the River Sub in 1984. The coil cars easily identify this train's origin as from the yard at Ecorse and National Steel's Great Lakes Works, ironically just closed this month. Here it's crossing the CR Detroit Line at FN Tower in Trenton. 2&3) Same manifest train in both shots is coming down from West Detroit on the joint GTW/NW main and is curving past the tower at Delray Jct. in 1988, headed for the hump yard at Flat Rock, taking the ex-Shoreline and DT&I to get there. Tracks in the foreground are ex-PM/WAB to the waterfront and the ferries to Windsor. Date: 04/09/20 00:55 Re: GTW Weds Author: Mr-Beechcroft Yes a splash of color in the rust belt.
