More MILW Monday - Out West
Author: BRAtkinson

Here's a few more of that group of Milwaukee Road slides I purchased at a swap meet in Milwaukee in the late '70s.  This time we're out west.  Again, I have no idea who the photographer was nor is there any dates on the duplicate (I think) slides.  Whoever made this set wrote only the nearby city names on them, so that's the locations I'll use.

1.  Kohrs MT - I'll call it 'catching some rays'
2.  Avery MT - somewhere near there, I'd guess
3.  Avery MT - Switching in Avery?

4.  Harlowton, MT - "So THIS is where they put in the fuel hose on these things!"
5.  Near Avery, ID - Non-stop curves on the Milwaukee Road
6.  Avery, ID - Waiting to leave town?

Photo two on the bridge would make a great magazine center spread image.

Great shots, thanks for sharing with us.  The shots showing the human side of railroading were especially good.  The crewman on the front platform of a Little Joe, the guy "fueling" the Little Joe, the boxcab crewman in the brightly colored hat, all great shots of railroaders of the era.  Also really liked the overall shot of the facilities at Deer Lodge.  Whatever you paid for these slides, I'd say it was a good investment.
