A Tour of the Arkansas and Ozarks RR
Author: BNSF-6432

Here's more of Frank Tribbey's photos I've been scanning while making use of the days off. Combined are a group of pictures from two different trips to the short lived Arkansas & Ozarks railroad operating on the former roadbed of the M&A. He first visited the shortline in the summer of 1958. By the time he made a return in 1961, the railroad was already abandoned due to consistant flooding and loss of profit with less than 20 employees. In 1959 the Corps of Engineers condemned a portion of track for Table Rock Lake. By 1960, heavy rains washed out a bridge and was the knife in the chest to the small friendly shortline.

Arkansas (and Louisiana) shortlines are a favorite.
Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting BNSF!  My mom's side of the family comes from the country round Harrison, and I have spent time in the backwoods there.  But I didn't first get there till 1964 (as a child) and don't recall much left.  Wow!
