Here’s another delightful image from the camera of the late Mr Emil Albrecht, a long time friend of Jim Watson who is TO member ‘UP6900’. Emil was one those who always did the best he could with what he had to work with. He never had any “top-of-the-line” camera and didn’t always use Kodachrome slide film/Kodak processing. But doggonnit! He sure did know how to get out in the trenches where he could shoot some pretty good landmark composition!

I have to raise a minor point with Emil’s date of 08-22-52. Wikipedia says EMD F9s didn’t go into production until February of 1953. It’s entirely possible that I misread his hand-scrawled date on the slide. I’ll certainly defer to our resident EMD expert. What do you think, Jack?

1. UP 1480 leads an A-B-B trio of F9s in the Weber Canyon (UT) area on August 22, 1952(?).

Those are Phase IV F3's, which were later rebuilt by EMD as "F9m's", Lance.

I believe that photo was taken at Taggart.

Tunnelville was not named taggarts until after ww2 when the bar opened up 
 

The units are F7's  The phase 4 units were in the 1550 numbers.  The 1500's were the renumbereed F3;s.

Yes - all the spotting features of regular F7's (headlight bezel, porthole sashes and louver configuration). Photographers in the early years often didn't get the model designation correct - I've seen that many times.
