Nostalgia & History > Zebras in Oklahoma CityDate: 05/29/20 20:41 Zebras in Oklahoma City Author: BNSF-6432 Here's a look at some "zebra striped" switchers in the Oklahoma City metro area in early 1960. At the time Oklahoma City was quite a hub that could keep switch jobs and busy all day. Here's some of those jobs at work captured by Frank Tribbey.
1) Running light on the elevated mainline is GP7 2799 above some trailers and an Erie boxcar. April 2, 1959 2) Nearly a year later, Frank shot 2799 working the lower tracks, this appears to be the stockyards but I'm not too familiar with the area. February, 13, 1960. 3) A passing shot of the GP7 assending back onto the main with a fresh looking RI boxcar second out. The elevated main is just to the left and the station can be seen back in the distance. March 19, 1960
5) ATSF 2299 handles some reefers near the Union Station between Frisco and Rock Island. March 17, 1962 6) Under dark skies sits a lone switcher also near union station on October 1, 1962. Taken by Frank Tribbey PQM Date: 05/29/20 21:15 Re: Zebras in Oklahoma City Author: 3rdswitch Outstanding!
