Love the stylized view of Harpers Ferry with the B&O GP30s.

Makes me think back to the days where Howard Fogg was the graphic artist for the American Locomotive Company.
When I was on the steam crew I got to meet Howard. He was a wonderful gentleman, great artist, and a WWII fighter pilot.
Howard also painted the illustrations that were used on the 1969 Centennial calendar for the Union Pacific.

I figured that Milwaukee Road magazine image I posted had an original color version.
In some of those images, it looks like the engines are derailing!
Love the swirling light of the brakeman's lantern!  Only a photographer would understand that phenomenon.
The colors are really off the charts bold!  I would buy a reproduction poster, if available!

Good stuff! I remember seeing all sorts of his stylish artwork in the various trade publications laying around the Morris depot in 1974, when I first hired on with a Santa Fe M.O.W extra gang...

WOW! I have always admired his bold style and had no idea there were this many including some local favorites. I was able to acquire one I had wanted for a long time, the Santa Fe SD45's, which I do not see here so there must have been more I was not aware of. Very nice, thank you for sharing these.

L&N must be on a run through to the PRR.
Note the position light signals. ;)

All kidding aside these are great.  Thanks for posting.

I wonder what his process was.  Did he work off photos given to him and then re-imagine or sketch them with enhanced color, lines of force and angle of motion?  Some of his points of view seem like them come from someone who was intimate with railroading.  How did he collect his research to make these highly dramatic, hyper-realistic scenes?

Thanks Sven, quite the body of work here - a virtual gallery tour that is very pleasing, intriguing and historic.
