Nostalgia & History > A Saturday Santa Fe with a sad ending . . .Date: 05/30/20 10:55 A Saturday Santa Fe with a sad ending . . . Author: 3rdswitch . . . the first photo I took on a summer '87 vacation, was of eastbound Barstow to TX train 805 shown climbing the west side of Goffs Hill near Fenner, CA, in early morning. Sadly, bringing up the rear were twenty cabooses, nineteen of which were heading for scrap. Even though most THROUGH trains lost their cabooses a couple years prior, many trains that had work enroute, still had the second brakeman as well as a working caboose as this one did.
