 Great photo! It was built to BRC (Belt Ry. Co. of Chicago) specifications and maintained by the BRC as well. They also had another SW1000 numbered 69.

Looks like they checked few, if any, option boxes on the order form when they ordered it from EMD.

BRC certainly like to but base models.  They bought GP7 & GP9 units withfriction bearings and no MU, about as basic as you could get.
