Strangers in a different world
Author: roustabout

In 1990, BN leased a pair of McCloud River Railroad SD38s and used them for the Bieber Turn.  I like Klamath Falls and that region but it doesn't always like me - this time it was numerous afternoon lightning storms that I dodged since i was on my touring motorcycle.  One must take risks to get the reward!  These were taken June 16, 1990 at Stornghold and Bieber.  Notice anything in that last photo?

SP installed them when they were running around the Eugene area.

Interesting photos, the Mill details are rare, one of those 'thought it would always be there' so didn't get many photos. Seems like they had a pretty big mill in town as well.

The first photo livens up with a trip through photoshop, great catch.

I see a beacon/strobe by the sand filler. Was that for the APU heater?

I see the moulding mill (whose name eludes me) was still in operation in 1990. That's one of their Thrall All-Door cars on the siding.
