Just a simple shot of a Santa Fe GP7 with a yard transfer in 1980 I kinda liked. David K.

Nice interesting shot. For the uninitiated, namely me, please explain what railroad the Santa Fe train is crossing and what railroad is on the bridge. Is the train going east or west?

Very nice picture of a Santa Fe transfer. The Santa Fe just started onto the Kansas City Terminal  RR, going north. all the tracks and the bridge in the pic  are owned by the KCT. i am trying to find a track chart with track numbers, but my filing system is at present  fubar. KCRW287.

To add to this, the tracks the Santa Fe was crossing were generally used by the Rock Island, later SP.  The tracks on the upper level of the bridge were used by the UP.

Hope this helps you understand things a little better.

Really a nice shot with a unique angle I haven't seen before, thanks for posting.

This should help ...  I'm assuming it's the same outfit. This is the first time I've seen a boxcar lettered for them, have several pics of locos in their paint scheme
