Nostalgia & History > Looks like a Penn Central localDate: 08/01/20 05:36 Looks like a Penn Central local Author: gcm Dec 76
Less than a year into the Conrail era, an ex-PRR GP9 leads a local east of Alliance,Oh. There was a couple of branch lines east of town - one to Newton Falls and another to Niles. I don't remember which one this was. Gary Date: 08/01/20 05:46 Re: Looks like a Penn Central local Author: refarkas Great local. I can't tell which location this is. Sorry.
Bob Date: 08/01/20 05:58 Re: Looks like a Penn Central local Author: Cole42 Nice photo, has everything from the past - a local, GP9, boxcars, caboose, no graffiti, snow.

Thanks for the nice photo posting. ALLEN Date: 08/01/20 11:24 Re: Looks like a Penn Central local Author: WMF7A How about Courtney Road? It looks right to me as the little shed matches the one in the photo of the train.
J Date: 08/01/20 13:04 Re: Looks like a Penn Central local Author: gcm Thanks for the Courtney Rd image.
Looks like that was the place and if so this was the branch to Niles. Thanks. Gary Date: 08/01/20 18:53 Re: Looks like a Penn Central local Author: Frank30 The shed in the last picture is a lot further away from the tracks. Did they move it at one point in time??
Frank30 Date: 08/02/20 05:38 Re: Looks like a Penn Central local Author: MJTodd This photo also appears to capture a rare and unique ex ATSF caboose conversion to N5K class by PC.
Date: 08/02/20 23:55 Re: Looks like a Penn Central local Author: EricSP All of the boxcars appear to be RBLs. Did one of the branches have a food processing plant or very large grocery warehouse on it?
