Nostalgia & History > Red BaronDate: 08/01/20 10:00 Red Baron Author: 148Fireman …Took a break from work, helping prep ex RDG #2102 for up-coming 1973 D&H and HICO fan trips as CNJ/E-L pool freight #SE-98 approached with ‘Red Baron’ #3067 as lead unit. Photo was shot form atop 2102’s tender, February, 1973.
3067 was originally built for the B&O as #7488, May, 1967; re-numbered CNJ #3067; re-numbered C-R #6291?; scrapped 2006. Date: 08/01/20 11:49 Re: Red Baron Author: refarkas What a great photo! You did a great job of combining the railroad with human interest.

The station, in the background, was headquarters of the High Iron Company.
The train, SE-98 (a CNJ/E-L pool freight) originated in Scranton, PA on the Erie-Lackawanna. It switched onto the CNJ Highbridge Branch at Lake Junction, near Dover, NJ. It then switched onto the CNJ main, just west of Lebanon, and traveled east to Elizabeth, NJ. |
