Sleeper Saturday: Glen Crag, Glen Alta & Glen Meadow
Author: Rainier_Rails

Between October and December 1925, Pullman constructed a total of 40 sleepers to Plan #3523A in Lot #4922, with 6 compartments and 3 drawing rooms (6C-3DR), and all placed in the Glen name series. 5 were built for assignment to the AT&SF, 7 for assignment to the Overland Limited, and the remainder (28) for general service. Here are 3 such examples from this Lot, all taken by Dick Kuelbs in Dallas in the early 60's, after the cars had been repainted to the Two-Tone Gray (TTG) scheme.

Glen Crag, December 21st, 1962. Glen Crag was painted in SAL colors in October 1951, was changed to TTG in December 1954, and was sold for scrap to Midwest Steel in September 1964.

Glen Alta, September 16th, 1962. Glen Alta] was painted in TTG in June 1953, was sold in October 1965 to Jack Ferris' Private RR Cars, Inc., was later resold to Royal American Shows as RASX #81, later became part of the Illinois RY Museum collection, was intended for sale to Iowa Pacific as SLRG #9171, but never left IRM property.

Glen Meadow, December 25th, 1961. Glen Meadow was 1 of the 7 built for the Overland Limited, was painted in TTG in June 1953, and was sold for scrap to Hyman-Michaels in September 1966.
