Date: 09/14/20 09:41 Re: Nathrop, Colorado Author: flynn I did a search for Walter E. Brown on Ancestry and found on the 1910 Census that he was a telegraph operator for the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad at Nathrop. I also found his registration for World War I that was issued on September 12,1918 and showed Mr. Brown working at Nathrop.
Picture 6, Registration. Date: 09/14/20 09:43 Re: Nathrop, Colorado Author: flynn My Mother was born on September 18, 1900 in St. Elmo, Colorado. When she was in the second grade [1917?] her family moved to Silverton and on to Eureka. They would have taken the Colorado Southern Railroad from St. Elmo to Nathrop and then changed to the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad at Nathrop. They would have gone south to Antonito and west to Durango and north to Silverton. When they moved from Silverton to Eureka they would have taken the Silverton Northern Railroad.
Perhaps when my Mother’s family waited for their Denver and Rio Grande Railroad train south at the depot in Nathrop, Mr. Brown was there. Date: 09/15/20 04:13 Re: Nathrop, Colorado Author: rrpreservation Thanks for all of the research!!
