Tunnel Motor Tuesday: Lumber Loads and Traction Motors
Author: MacBeau

Okay, so it's three and a half minutes of your life you'll never get back, but then again it's a whole train video including the mid-train help. The eastbound featured at Walong was recorded April 1993.

Be of good cheer,

Mac, thanks for the look back from a great vantage point at Walong.  Those EMD's sounded fantastic!

SP was one of the best railroads in the World! That just proved it!

The sound alone is worth a look but ad on a well done video and you have a winner.

Three minutes of my life well spent as far as I'm concerned.
Love that you framed the shot with that tree and rock
Love that you included the whole train - no unnecessary editing
Love that you locked the tripod down and didn't pan, zomm, shake or jitter
Love that spot. Lot's of great memories from that exact place.
Great post! Thanks!

Wow, great show. Every loco, every car a show by itself.
They had some real howlers.

Enjoyed my old favorite SP!  Too bad there weren't hi-res video camera's back then or earlier.

Cheers,

Fabulous! Always was a great spot to pull up a chair, have some snacks, and watch trains!

KFalls pickup on the headend. 4 x 6 locomotive consist helped with the speed. 4x 4 only got about 15, this was track speed 25 MPH

It seemed like the lead units of the helper were screaming out a different tone than the other EMD's. Did others hear the same and if so any idea why those units may have sounded different?

Great video. It's too bad we can't hear thunder like that any longer even if normal people might consider it noise pollution.
