Nostalgia & History > Forty Friday, EJ&E . . .Date: 11/20/20 08:47 Forty Friday, EJ&E . . . Author: 3rdswitch . . . wait a minute you say, EJ&E didn't have any forties, well, I don't know how long they had them, or, if they were ever painted in EJ&E orange, but, in OCT '03, a pair of EJE lettered former UTAY RWY forties, were leading an eastbound coal train not far west of Joliet, IL. I am not sure I have ever seen a shot of these units before I ran across them on this trip, or since?

We briefly stopped at West Chicago on August 24 and we caught a few UP trains and then got excited that our timing was perfect, an EJE train was coming! Then these things showed up. I was hoping for some nice orange J SD38-2s. Disappointing, but over the years this shot has grown on me. Thanks for the memories.
