From The Old Computer (44) - PC 1744
Author: refarkas

Here are two views of a Conrail freight with four F-units still in PC paint.
It's June 1976 in Akron, Ohio, and Conrail (but still painted PC) 1744, 1788, 3469, and 1782 are headed for Hudson, Ohio and beyond.
1.) (Here is a higher quality redo of an already-posted photo not from the old computer.) The train is approaching South Street.
2.) (This is from the old computer.) The train is about to cross South Street.

Bob,
I would call that a rare shot in many ways.

We Akron railfans were blessed for several years in the mid-1970's to have a PC/CR mostly F-unit freight that left in the later afternoon. This is that freight. EL833 could give you more information. He is an Akron photography/history expert while I am an Akron photographer only.

Great bit of history there Bob.  All matching paint and notice that the number on the B unit is up by the portholes as compared to where it is on the A units.

You will find many variations of PC paint on the same models. That's what makes PC a great railroad to model!

Not looking too bad for an old, bankrupt RR. That gon will touch the rails in the middle after a few more loads! Good time to be a railfan.

Good looking track and ballast. Clean locomotives.

Great catch will the pure PC set. It didn't take long at all before the "CR" patches started showing up. The train is AMA, a turn that ran from Motor yard in Macedonia, Ohio to Akron and return. It's northbound on the 103 track and will join the main at JO then take the former CA&C/PRR at AY for Hudson and a connection to the former PRR C&P (today's NS Cleveland Line) for the run to Motor. Great train that ran every day, then poof, gone. The 2nd unit, 1788, would be one of the last two freight F's running on Conrail in late August 1979.
