Northbound on the Inter-American at the Missouri Pacific station in Poplar Bluff,Mo.
The station was built in 1910 by the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway.
Missouri Pacific took it over in 1917 and not to long after these shots, the station would be used by the Union Pacific.
It's still there today.

Is the junction with the line from Dupo the track on left in the background?

Another great trip on Bert Dockall's car.
I guess the Eagle Cliff passed this way many a time.

Old MP RR St. Louis, MO based passenger traion and engine crews worked to and from  Poplar Bluff, MO.

Also looks like the PV ex-SAL 10-6 sleeper Charlotte is ahead of the Eagle Cliff.  That car went to mexico circa 1986 if I remember correctly.

You're right, that is the Charlotte.
We were going to St.Louis with a full load so the Charlotte was leased for extra sleeping space.
I didn't know it went to Mexico.

I remember passing here on the Texas Eagle in 1961. Don't recall stopping but we might have.

Yes, in the second and third pictures. Passenger trains coming off of that line would have back into the depot.

The Eagle Cliff was one of my favorite pass. cars. Got to ride on it several times. Thanks for posting these slides.
Where is the Eagle cliff now ?

I believe the Eagle Cliff is now in Austin.

The waiting room in that station is pretty sad!  I took this photo 10 years ago.
It seems to me, that Amtrak recently eliminated the caretaker and access to this minimal space.
When I rode the Eagle the night I took this photo, there was a younger guy there, who I presumed
was the caretaker, nursing a six pack that was stashed under one ot the plastic chairs.
It was kind of a sad place, and those stairs up to main street were in terrible shape!

Some work has been done on restoring the station, and the "Iron Mountain stairs" up to main street have been totally rebuilt.  Back in the day (1972 in my case) at the top of the stairs was the Dunn Hotel, a somewhat legendary-or infamous-crew layover point.  Its all just a vacant lot up there now.  The Eagle Cliff I believe is going to stay with the Austin Steam Train after Bert's passing a year or so back.
