Nostalgia & History > A couple MP freights in TexasDate: 03/04/21 10:35 A couple MP freights in Texas Author: gcm May 79
A northbbound Missouri Pacific train (SD40-2 3141 leads) waits in the siding as a southbound passes in Marlin,Tx (30 miles south of Waco) on ex-I&GN trackage. On the northbound -- 3038 - SD40 3002 - SD40 2077 - GP38-2 I sure didn't see many ice reefers in trains anymore but here was one. A shot of the southbound posted before --- https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,5161866,5161866#msg-5161866 Gary Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 04/02/21 11:07 by gcm. Bob Date: 03/04/21 11:10 Re: A couple MP freights in Texas Author: dcfbalcoS1 I would think you would be hard pressed to finad an 'ice reefer' anywhere these days as they are now all mechanical ( those that are left ) and many refridgerated items go by refridgerated containers.

Thanks for the excellent and interesting photo posting. ALLEN Date: 03/04/21 11:46 Re: A couple MP freights in Texas Author: Conch Nice sequence. Glad you attached the reefer and caboose. Never too many of those.
Date: 03/04/21 11:48 Re: A couple MP freights in Texas Author: SouthernPacific I really enjoyed seeing your MP images. I liked MP's blue paint on motive power and red paint on cabooses. The screaming eagle and buzzsaw logos are favorites of mine. Thank you!

Joe Date: 03/04/21 19:54 Re: A couple MP freights in Texas Author: SCKP187 Nice shots. Good meet material and nice to see the screaming eagle on the units.
Brian Stevens Date: 03/05/21 08:39 Re: A couple MP freights in Texas Author: King_Coal Nice crop of SD40s and GP38s which were the premiere power on the MoPac at that time. A lot of the other power were "bell ringers" when they showed up - GP18s & GP35s were notable door-open locomotives at that time.
Thanks for sharing. Date: 03/05/21 15:28 Re: A couple MP freights in Texas Author: texchief1 Good shots!
