In the late 70s, Very early 80s it was common to see 3-5 long (80-100 cars) freight trains on a Friday or Saturday night. Mostly with big power & then the SD9s came back. Tim Hanesworth Date: 03/06/21 20:50 Re: SP Visitor to the NWP during the 86 Flooding Author: billmeeker Milwaukee Wrote:

Didn't SP impose a surcharge on loads coming off the north end of the NWP around 1983-84? That pretty much put the kabash on the big trains originating off the NWP. They even had Ferry Boats back in the day to shuffle lumber cars! It was amazing how much lumber they pumped out of there in the 70s and 80s!
