Lots of memories riding/working on those "new SD45 units", after returning from the Army on January 2, 1967. Seems the units were experiencing lots of traction motor flash-overs at speed, so I spent a month or more riding mostly between Amarillo, TX to Clovis, NM. Then EMD moved me to San Bernadino, CA for the modification program, which included the complete engine rebuild on a few selected units for an oil company's sponsored "oil performance test". Lots of interesting happenings.

Classic vintage! I can’t wait to get home and look on the monitor...

Right out of the box is always good.

That upper stripe really adds to the look of the engine!
