Nostalgia & History > Then and now along the LackawannaDate: 03/08/21 06:04 Then and now along the Lackawanna Author: thebluecomet An Erie Lackawanna eastbound freight using some borrowed NJ commuter U34CH's works up the grade out of Scranton passing under the signal bridge near Elmhurst, PA. January 24,1976.
Fast forward to a sort-of now, March 3, 2016, and the Delaware-Lackawanna train PT98 does the same. The train is shorter and only going as far as Portland, PA. The eastbound main track is long gone and the signal bridge, although still standing, no longer serves its intended function. While we are lucky to have this part of the line still in use, by Alco/MLW products, no less, it is a far cry from what once was. Conrail had little use for this stretch of track and it was a very early casualty. Date: 03/08/21 07:29 Re: Then and now along the Lackawanna Author: perklocal Wow ! That is a fantastic then and now.
