Eight Various Amtrak

1. AMTK  P42DC 149 built March 2991 in April 2001, unknown photographer.

2. AMTK  SSB1200 561 built in May 1953 as ATSF 1230 and rebuilt from SW9u, in Chicago, IL on August 30, 1990, unknown photographer.

3. AMTK 187 with Train 5, in Reno, NV in July 2004, unknown photographer.

4. AMTK 597 and 625 with Zephyrs 5 and 6 in Cheyenne, WY on May 20, 1978, unknown photographer.

5. AMTK F40PH 219 built April 1976 with the Pioneer and in back ground the SF Zephyr, in Ogden, UT on July 12, 1978, unknown photographer.

6. AMTK F40PH 222 with the Desert Wind in Fullerton, CA on May 22, 1989, unknown photographer.

7. AMTK F40PH 226 in Glenview,IL with a train for Milwaukee on April 19, 1989, unknown photographer.

8. AMTK F40PHRs 377, 392, and 314, Chicago, IL on May 5, 1989, unknown photographer.

In your photo number 4 of the two Amtraks (5 & 6) in Cheyenne at the same time raised a real headach for the dispatchers.
Both trains had to have their power run around the trains upon arrival in Cheyenne. This tied up three of the 4 mainlines.
I was a hostler at that time on second shift and may have been the one doing the run arounds.

I assume they ran aroind their trains in Denver too.  Marty

Marty states the photo was taken in Reno, but I don't remember the station platform being on a curve.

I don't think it's Martinez; not enough tracks.  It's a stumper.  I don't know why but it gives me a Sunset Ltd. vibe.

Single track on a curve with a recently paved blacktop platform, and a relatively major town judging by the number of passengers on the platform.

It's got me baffled.

Probably the SDPs didn't run thru Denver? They
always changed there?

they did do a runaround just did not reconnect in denver

But where's #1???  I'm thinkng somewhere on the UP given the "Union" sign on top of the depot, but have no other idea.

Photo 1) I prefered this higher belt line on the early "swoosh" GEs, made 'em less tubby. Still, a nice bit of red next to the blue would have really made it happen. But nobody was asking me.
