Nostalgia & History > Still More SP Locations/DirectionsDate: 04/08/21 06:22 Still More SP Locations/Directions Author: Art045 Good Morning - moving through the unknown locations/directions, here are three more: Mac Sebree's two shots of the "Del Monte" from April 1968; and, an unknown photographer's shot of the 9054 leading a train circa April 1980. There are two more to post, which I'll include in a follow-on message. As always, very much appreciate any/all help with these! All the best, Art
Date: 04/08/21 06:24 Re: Still More SP Locations/Directions Author: Art045 As promised, the final two are Mac Sebree's shots of this FP7-led freight circa October 1969. As with the others, thanks in advance for any/all help you can offer! Have a great day, Art

Twelve miles to Delhi with the highway on that side makes the location Keyes, CA. The A.L. Gilbert elevator is still there: https://goo.gl/maps/jz51gV2B7uHPWP2W9 Date: 04/08/21 07:05 Re: Still More SP Locations/Directions Author: Art045 Morning and thanks much for the read on this location! All the best, Art

Date: 04/08/21 08:27 Re: Still More SP Locations/Directions Author: railstiesballast The current issue of the SP Historic & Technical Society TRAINLINE has an article about the Mohawk line change; that was an easy one to figure out having just read that.
There is also a compilation of all the locations of CTC installation on the Pacific Lines, including standard drawings of the signals and relay houses. The Mohawk line change was done about the same time as CTC went through. Thanks for sharing. Date: 04/08/21 08:31 Re: Still More SP Locations/Directions Author: Art045 Excellent! Thanks for the additional info. All the best, Art

-John Date: 04/08/21 08:31 Re: SP Locations Author: timz Yeah, that must be 1960s San Bruno.
SP moved it down there around 1962 -- to get more parking? Date: 04/08/21 08:35 Re: Still More SP Locations/Directions Author: FiveChime Rare for just one A-Unit on the SP and would of only happened in the Valley.
Nice photos. Thanks for posting. Regards, Jim Evans Date: 04/08/21 08:36 Re: SP Locations Author: goldcoast The first and second photos are definitely San Bruno, Calif.
Date: 04/08/21 09:15 Re: SP Locations Author: trackplanner Looks like that passenger F has an XMUG in tow.
Date: 04/08/21 09:26 Re: SP Locations Author: FiveChime I could go over there (San Bruno) today and get an "After" picture but you would not even be able to compare as one
hardly could from yesterday's Millbrae shots! Regards, Jim Evans Date: 04/08/21 10:17 Re: Still More SP Locations/Directions Author: ble692 Looking photo 3 over, I belive it to be Steins, NM. The geography seems a better match, and note the partial milepost on the culvert - 112x.x. This would be right for Steins, but way wrong for Mohawk which was 793.7 at the east switch.

You can see the exit sign for San Simon in the background on I10 Date: 04/08/21 11:18 Re: Still More SP Locations/Directions Author: Art045 Cool! Thanks much for the follow-up info and spotting features in that view! Have a great afternoon, Art

Date: 04/08/21 15:23 Re: Still More SP Locations/Directions Author: Westbound Photo 5: Appears the photographer just turned around to snap the picture of the same train as in photo 4 at Keyes. Train is running railroad west / compass north, parallel with Hwy 99. Looks like it is the late 1960s.
