Coast Starlight 1972

Summer 0f 1972, on that big curve above San Luis Obispo.  I believe the Great Northern car may have been the dining car.  I'm interested in what the second and third to the end cars are.  As a bonus I caught one of those block indicator thingys in the picture.

The Great Northern car appears to be an x-C&NW coach that GN purchased in 1963? (not sure of year)

The last 3 cars (two SP baggage-dorms and a coach) are likely deadheading.

That consist is running in reverse order for some reason.  Coaches and bag dorm (plus the 2 deadheads) on the rear instead of up front as usual.

No. standard consist in summer 1972. Coaches on rear. Oakland added cars most every day to LA
