SP ALCo S4 1792 in 1974

Southern Pacific (SP) ALCo S4 1792 is in the PFE facility at Roseville, CA on Tuesday, August 6, 1974. SP 1792 is an ALCo S4. Reportedly: this locomotive was built as SP 1464 in  Nov. 1951, SP Class DS-111, serial number 79339. In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassified as SP 1792 ALCo S4, Class AS410-4. It was retired July 1975.

SP 1792 was another unit that met it's fate at the Purdy scrap yard in Lake Point, UT. Here a couple pictures of what was left of the 1792 by July 1978.
