More Santa Fe Power From 1996

1. AT&SF GP50 3832 built by EMD in April 1981 became BNSF 3185, and photoed at the Locomotive Maintenance Inspection Terminal (LMIT) in Barstow, CA.in July 1996 by Daune Hall.

2. AT&SF/SPSF GP20u 3028 built by EMD August 1961, became BNSF 2018, and photoed at the Locomotive Maintenance Inspection Terminal (LMIT) in Barstow, CA.in July 1996 by Daune Hall.

3. AT&SF C44-9W 692 built by GE September 1994, became BNSF 692, and photoed at the Locomotive Maintenance Inspection Terminal (LMIT) in Barstow, CA.in July 1996 by Daune Hall.

4. AT&SF SD40-2 5171 MKM, built 1981, maintenance by Morrison Knudsen in April 1994, became BNSF 6899, and photoed in July 1996 by Daune Hall at the Locomotive Maintenance Inspection Terminal (LMIT) in Barstow, CA.

5. AT&SF GP35u 2931 built September 1965, became BNSF 2631, and photoed in July 1996 by Daune Hall at the Locomotive Maintenance Inspection Terminal (LMIT) in Barstow, CA.

Wow, that's the first time I've seen the fuel tanks just by themselves. It looks like just four mounting points, one on each corner, maybe a couple of bolts for each one. Amazing it doesn't bow down in the center with a full load of fuel.

If I recall coorectly, the fuel tanks usually have baffles, which double as stiffeners inside, its a bit of a honeycomb, top/bottom and side/side
