It was still there in September 1983 though repainted into the Chessie scheme. I worked as a brakeman one weekend day on a helper shoving eastbound trains over the Old main Line and Metropolitan Subdivisions. Our helper had 2 GP40-2s and the 1826, fortunately the 1826 was the west unit of the consist, made detaching from the train being shoved a bit easier when using the GP40. During the week the 1826 was used as a yard engine, i had it once or twice while working a yard job. Note: the 1826 was an EMD SD-7 demonstrator prior to it's purchase by the B&O. It was an odd ball for the B&O SD-7s as it had both dynamic brakes and a steam boiler for passenger service, other B&O units did not have that equipment.
