Last of the City trains on Cajon

UP 904 west approaches Cajon Station in this slide from Bob Gottier taken in April of 1971. What were they calling this train right before it was discontinued with the coming of Amtrak?

Great photo - I didn't know (or recall reading) that there was once a siding or spur along the South track there.

Note the CA flag is missing.  Lost around Hesperia.  I have the original signed train orders of the last 103 and 104.  I knew the RFE Bill Sandlin and was privileged to ride in the cab of the last 103 between San Bernardino and Riverside.

Old UP RR LA based passenger train crews worked to and from Las Vegas, NV. Los Angeles based engine crews worked to and from Yermo, CA.

I believe that's the South track on the right and the North track he's on back before they realigned the North track.

No Don, #103 is on the South track and that is the westward siding at Cajon there on the right.  There was also an eastward siding at Cajon along with a house track and a set-out  track IIRC.

That 10-6 was used as a dorm car?

103 looks maybe an hour late.
