Century Sunday, a small Fallen Flag
Author: thebluecomet

One of the smallest roads folded into Conrail was the Lehigh and Hudson River.  Once a busy bridge line route connecting the Anthracite roads to the New Haven Railroad and New England, it quickly declined after the Penn Central merger.  By "the end" it was down to night local running mostly Monday thru Friday.  Sundays would find most of the six remaining C420's sitting in front of the Warwick, NY shops.  Here are a few from 1973 during my print film days.

Great stuff!!!! I was able to coax my parents to making the drive to Warwick "a few times" for those same shots. Thanks for posting. Great memories there.

Yes, from Sparta Junction to Campbell Hall, operated by the Susquehanna. The south end has been torn up.

The final blow came when the Poughkeepsie bridge “mysteriously” caught fire.
