Santa Fe seventies show
Author: 3rdswitch

.   .   .   something I did A LOT of weekends after getting my drivers license, and particularly after getting my first car, a 1957 two door FORD by the way, cost me $50, was make the rounds of UP East Yard, SP Taylor Yard, Santa Fe Redondo Junction and Los Angeles Junction engine facilities in the late sixties and early seventies. In July '72, there was quite a bit of power at Santa Fe's Redondo Junction facility, five or so years before operations moved to the new Hobart Yard diesel facility and this facility was turned over to Amtrak.

Wow, what a bargain - $50 auto-!  Glad you put it on the road with that 20-cents a gallon gasoline.  Those were amazing days that I'm thankful you share with us.
