SP seventies show . . .
Author: 3rdswitch

.   .   .   back in DEC '75, a pair of boiler equipped SD9's, kept in the San Francisco area for backup commuter service, were being used on the East Pleasenton Turn shown on it's westbound return trip near Fremont *changed, CA.

Nice clean composition, must have been before shopping carts were invented.

Yes indeed. 4450 and 4451 are "Huff" and "Piuff".

I think 4451 is still around waiting, but in need of lots of work. Your photo brings back good memories of the pair on the peninsula. Photobob and I paid a visit about 5 years age in Shellville

4451 is still alive and uh, well... alive...

Puff will be moving out of Schellville fairly soon to be repaired at Dieselmotive's facility in Stockton, CA.

Sadly, Huff (4450) was scrapped a number of years ago by the museum in Portola. Would have been neat to see the twins back together again someday, but sadly it was not to be.

I always hear about how everything should be donated to museums for preservation, but in this case the privately owned commute SD9 survives on, while the musuem unit met the torch after a series of unfortunate owners and decisions...
