F Unit Friday, SP Black Widow, Donner Pass Power, March, 1967

A transition period for motive power on the SP Overland Route over Donner. 
F's still in use but newer power beginning to appear. Crews seemed to like the F's 
because they continued to be placed on the point of trains sometime after the 
newer power arrived. Roseville, March 1967.

I always preferred the F's on the point instead of the newer stuff.

FWIW, with traction motor short time ratings, the F's should be put on the point of the newer power.
