Hmmm... “Yellow Bonnet of Texas”... With a catchy phrase like that, somebody oughtta write a song! ;^) 1. AT&SF 315 L is in a service stop in Temple, TX on January 29, 1973. Photo by William A. I'm curious, outside of the ATSF, BN (former CB&Q), and D&H (former ATSF), were there other roads that adapted their freight paint schemes to accommodate former passenger units with stainless steel panels? Since there were numerous green BN E units, how did they ultimately deal with the stainless issue? Date: 01/14/22 09:56 Re: F-unit Friday: The Yellow (Bonnet) of Texas! Some ex-Q E7's were silver/stainless with a green nose. RI also had some stainless side panels. https://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=2149 Edited 1 time(s). The locomotive also has an ATS receiver on its rear truck, so yes, it's still leased to Amtrak for passenger service. The last of the leased 300-class were returned by September of 1973.
