Nostalgia & History > Switcher Saturday - BAR 31Date: 01/15/22 00:50 Switcher Saturday - BAR 31 Author: refarkas Here is another view (Last Saturday was the first view.) of a leased Bangor and Aroostook switcher working the Leheigh Valley yard in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on July 8, 1973. This scene with BAR 31 and so many of these fallen-flag freight cars can not be repeated today. Only one Union Pacific boxcar is not from a fallen flag.

A great picture of railroading in the past. Just look at the brakeman on the pilot footboards without a yellow safety vest! Jack Date: 01/15/22 05:59 Re: Switcher Saturday - BAR 31 Author: robj Great set of cars. 1973 I worked on the Milwaukee Road and there was no use of foot boards.

Most of the line is now a trail. Date: 01/15/22 14:43 Re: Switcher Saturday - BAR 31 Author: Ritzville Sure like all the boxcars in the yard background.
