Nostalgia & History > SP Geeps Out Of Bayshore, May, 1976Date: 01/16/22 13:16 SP Geeps Out Of Bayshore, May, 1976 Author: FiveChime As I recall, this was just about the time that SP started using a lot of SW1500s to power Pennisula freight so
seeing all these GP9s was getting rare. 1st photo is comingh out of Bayshore and 2nd same train eastbound in northern Millbrae. I was living right next to the railroad then and saw a lot of freights. The Esast Pleasanton Turn (Rock Train) which historically would use a variety of different motive power, in 1976 and beyond would have four SW1500s, the TBX would get two, and various other freights, one. Of note, the SP 2667 is back in CA as the BUGX 2667, and is slated to be painted back to red and gray. |
